Friday 29th April , 7:30pm

Local indie singer-songwriter Andrew Marshall announces that he will perform a show titled Acoustic Stew in the Moonah Arts Centre Concert Series on Friday 29 April 2011.

Following the success of his recent Tasmanian summer tour, including stints at the Taste Festival and Cygnet Folk Festival, Andrew Marshall will take his earthy solo musical performance to the Moonah Arts Centre later this month. His acoustic show will feature didgeridoo, harmonica, guitar and a loop station.

Andrew is often compared to the likes of James Taylor and Radiohead, drawing in audiences with his creative instrumentation and lyrical storytelling. In 2007 and 2008 he performed shows and festivals around the UK, receiving regular commercial radio airplay on BBC Radio and Exeter FM, and landing number one chart positions on independent radio station Radio Free South West.

Since his return to Australia in 2009, Andrew has played a string of shows around Tasmania and Melbourne and was a finalist in the 2010 National Musicoz Awards. According to street press magazine Sauce, “He reminds me of John Lennon in his solo years. His voice is wonderful and tells a story with every song. Andrew also plays the didgeridoo during his sets; this breaks it up and separates him from other similar artists. A great set by a great talent.”

Andrew’s Moonah Concert Series show will begin at 7:30pm on Friday 29 April. Doors open at 7pm with admission by gold coin donation. His multi-instrumental fusion of roots, folk, indie and rock musical styles will appeal to all ages.

Andrew’s first album, Refuge, is available for purchase online. Also available online for a limited time is a selection of studio and live recordings for free download from andrewmarshall.bandcamp.com
