John McNicholl has all the ingredients in the perfect recipe. Charm and charisma and a voice as rich as one of the delicious desserts he created in his time working as a pastry chef.
The fact he mentioned the Pavlova as one of his favourite desserts would endear this Irish singer even more to the Australian public.
I spoke to John from Ireland as he is preparing for a whirlwind 10 day visit to Australia (or more precisely Sydney) where he will do some press, TV, radio interviews and a one off concert to establish himself in preparation for a five week tour around Australia next year.
John will feel right at home in Sydney as he already has cousins and friends living there.
John himself is from a very traditional family of fifteen siblings who, together with his Mum and Dad (who sing and play guitar respectively), are talented in music. However his siblings have chosen not to follow music and performing as a career. If you are lucky enough to see John perform in Ireland you might see one of his family members make up his band one evening.
John sings a mixture of Irish country and Irish traditional music. His grandparents were from Donegal and were native Irish speakers. Traditional Irish songs have always played an important part in his life and he is indeed a proud Irishman happy to continue the tradition of performing in Ireland although his country music inclinations dream of one day singing with the likes of Dolly Parton and Vince Gill. John has already worked with the very famous, such as much loved Irish singer Daniel O’Donnell as well as providing support for Cliff Richard and Elton John. But we are privileged that John has decided that his next career move will be bringing his music and performance to Australia.
John will be performing one concert at Smithfield RSL, Sydney, NSW on Friday 16th September.
John’s album “It’s You Love” is out now online and in store through Sony Music. John’s music is also available from his website http://www.johnmcnicholl.com/ and http://www.tmusiconline.com/
