Love the way Will’s chin seems to be resting on Barty’s shoulder like some sort of Tasmanian government Hydra. Where is Hercules when you need him?

I spoke to Will Hodgman one day in Lonnie and I said at the time on this forum how I quite liked the cut of his jib , and the fact that he actually took the trouble to answer a couple of emails in regards to “industrial hemp”.
However it appears that he and the party are not serious about winning the next election at all ! because if they were, they only have to come out against the mill in order to do so !
Now ! if they are serious about taking over ,you wouldn’t know it ! because after all ! they are not offering ANYTHING that will persuade a predominately Labor state to change direction ! as far as I can determine, in spite of all the corruption that we have been subjected to.
Most will just say , “better the devil you know ” and so the “Lib/Lab” junta will continue.

With his comment about the Liberals abandoning the pulp mill to secure office next election, Don (#2) has raised the same thought I’ve been pondering myself.
I’ve been wondering how the community would react if the Liberals suddenly came out against the mill and effectively sided with the Greens on the issue.
My first thought was that with Labour so on the nose the Liberals would romp in for sure, but then I realised that they could not abandon their pro-business philosophy of business and moneymaking no matter what the disastrous consequences for the planet and for human suffering.
The Liberals are locked into the exploitive and destructive philosophies of the past and neither the people not the planet can take it much more without rebellion of some kind.
We don’t have leaders in this state. It’s a political dungheap.

Exactly Peter, as I been saying for some time the only way is for one or the other to be decimated at the polls thereby making certain that they don’t have the seats to vote with the opposition, which is why ,regardless of those who consider it risky, there needs to be huge support for “independents” and or “Greens”.
If not, it will be more of the same crap we have had to suffer for years.

I’ve wondered the same Peter.
But the thing is, I doubt the Liberals think they need to change their stance on the pulp mill (so I doubt they would) as they will most likely be assuming that they will win the election simply because of the general publics view of Labors performance.

I agree with Don’s diagnosis (#4) that, more than ever, it’s the right time for huge statewide support for the Tasmanian Greens and/or Independents, and I regard this as a matter of increasing, perhaps extreme urgency.
While unshakeably Green, I also want to help support the magnificent Independent candidate Andrew Wilkie whose intelligence, principles and courage I admire enormously.
Here’s my dilemma: how do I express my voter’s support for Andrew while not risking reduced support for my adored Greens?

Yes James (#5) I think you’ve got it right - the Liberals will probably secure office purely by default and not through any philosophical worthiness, suitability or competence on their part.
Then Don’s prediction (#4) of recycled crap will again manifest.
What an utterly dreary scenario.

I Guess I should clarify my position regarding the “Greens” inasmuch, that I have not always been in agreement with their actions , as is the case at present ! regarding the Silica project , because I see absolutely no reason to seek to stop something until we know without doubt that it will be a problem.
In the past the Greens have been renown for this type of action, and in this present scenario to do so ,in my opinion will only reflect badly on our fight to stop the mill, having said , they and independents will get my votes, if for no other reason than to rid ourselves of the present
corrupt junta.
