Sensible article by Sue Neales. She’s getting ruder and ruder about this government, and highly appropriately and not before time.
But where on earth did she get the bit Dave quoted about the energetic, youthful and trendy Premier with the great ideas? If polling really shows that people think that, those “faceless political diehards” must be having more influence than they deserve. And we are still in trouble.
To my mind, Barty when he succeeded Pulpy Paul had the world at his feet (or one small island anyway). If he’d had half a brain he could have capitalised on the energetic and youthful bit and told the establishment he was about to make major changes. And they could like it or lump it. As well as satisfying his soaring ambition he could have appeared clever, connected and statesmanlike to a grateful people. But he lacked the brains or the guts or both. Silly dope.

Sue Neales is a brave voice in the darkness. But I question the statement that Bartlett is popular - with whom? His own party certainly but surely his rating everywhere else must be alarmingly low!
People are sick of his “visions” that go nowhere, they are very tired of the incompetence of his government and certainly fed up with being ignored.
Spending $90,000 on another feel-good campaign is exactly what I would expect of a government that is tired and ill. Anything rather than admit they have made a mistake, and fix it. Ego is not a dirty word in this government.

Re #1
He lacked the guts, because he said he would be making big changes to heal the community, to listen, to be open and transparent, he made a lot of promises about no more handouts to Gunns, then did the opposite. Bartlett folded and proved once and for all he hadn’t the spine when he Backdoored the Beaconsfield community forum.
I’d love to see a popularity poll.
You can also bet your arse that the dairy farmers will be left to wither and fight their own battle alone against the corporations as the vegie farmers were not so long ago. Bartlett will offer nothing except counselling and that’s the last thing they need.
