A reluctant starter at Quang Loi

A new start
A very healthy cow we gave at Phong Xuan in 2008
This Phong Xuan cow is due in July
I am attaching some pix from Thursday’s cows handover at Quang Loi and some of the cows that we handed over in 2008 at Phong Xuan, both north of Hue in central Vietnam. The older cows are doing really well. One of the cows is pregnant, due in July.
The ceremony went well. With me were Ian Thurstans, Tony Brown and Vicki Montgomery (all of West Hobart). Of the 32 cows we have bought, 15 were given on Thursday and the other 17 arrive in a week.
The recipients are very appreciative of our efforts, their representative telling us in his speech that Quang Loi is an area “rich in its revolutionary tradition during the two wars of resistance against French Colonialists and American imperialists” and, for their troubles, are now families “infected by Agent Orange”.
The head of the People’s Commune thanked us deeply for our gift of the cows and promised to stick to their agreement to look after the cows for the betterment of the families.
