I visited Finland from Sep 8—13 and can confirm that Finnish forests are almost exclusively pine and birch. Very different to eucalypts! I flew into the Tampere airport in Western Finland and you know what? Its surroundings were very much like that of Hobart airport. Pine plantations surrounded the runway just as the Seven Mile Beach plantations do in Hobart.

While Finland is a beautiful country, the lack of floral diversity is striking;  perhaps an insight into the future appearance of Tasmania?
