What happened to the days when the cops were the good guys???

1; As you say Dave, what was that about? Looked like he picked the cyclist out and went for him. Must have been some previous connection, unless he was about to knock off duty and resented a bike in the way…?
Nothing new about police making the story fit though, they’re just going to have to take more care now!

I cannot imagine a police officer in Tasmania doing anything like that. If ever any of them did, I certainly would not condone it. In fact, I would outright condemn it.
Even the protesters in the forests have to admit the cops here are a bit soft. They let them get away with a hell of a lot, even though their protests impact on innocent people, not the decision makers. They can’t muster the numbers to influence the decision makers, and they will not accept the umpire’s decision, and their protests are like complaining to taxi drivers about airline schedules…
And if the cops here ever acted like that, we’d never hear the end of it.

Incidents of individual police going too far are a fact of life. The various “deaths in custody” investigations are an obvious place to start but on a smaller scale there have been countless cases where police make things fit, regardless of the truth. Officers witnessing things who are subsequently found to have been off duty and no where near the action. I even knew someone who was charged with D&D;, assualt, resisting arrest etc. Problem was he was a tee-total, pacifist, lay preacher who was doing his Christian duty collecting some of his errant flock. Just got swept up and charged regardless.
