A 20-year-old West Launceston man has been charged with vandalising the home of Gunns’ chairman, John Gay. Police say the front fence of Mr Gay’s Launceston home was daubed with green paint and the front door was damaged by heat and smoke on Saturday. The man has been charged with injury to property and trespass and will appear in court at a later date. Launceston detectives say their investigations have found the graffiti and other damage was a prank involving several intoxicated men. The forestry union had suggested the attack was the work of cowards motivated by their opposition to the planned Tamar Valley pulp mill. The incident was broadly criticised by environmentalists and all sides of politics. Read more here
