Speaking on ABC radio this morning Steve Kons said whether or not the government funds the pipeline will depend on the recommendation of the ‘steering committee’ appointed to assess the matter.

Steering committees are a device much beloved by Labor governments, who have a habit of appointing to them carefully selected individuals who can be relied upon to produce the required result. It’s the same as not having an inquiry unless you know the outcome before it begins.

What the public now needs to know is who has been appointed to the steering committee and what are their connections.

I would bet that having been appointed by the Lennon government the chances of the steering committee producing an outcome contrary to Gunns’ interests would be zero.
