According to just one of the Forest Practices Authority’s own guidelines (Section A3.2 of the Forest Practices Code 2000), the FPA would be in breach of its own Code if logging at this stage went ahead.

If logging went ahead regardless, would this be sufficient cause for legal action against the FPA?

Maybe Slaters and Gordon should set up shop in Tasmania? There seems to be plenty of scope for work for them.

More power to the people, shame the forest industry are a law unto themselves. The mere idea of putting a plantation 100m from the water uptake for a community would be laughed at in all other countries that practice modern forestry practices but not in tasmania. I doubt if this would even get a go ahead in any other state. But the company (which is a local one to lilydale) are known to have a rabid dislike of “greenies” and so are doggedly pushing ahead with preliminary work. At least if it goes ahead it will stand as a monument to the stupidity of tasmanian forestry for many years. And I bet there will be polution of the catchment and money (taxpayers and ratepayers) will have to be spent. Labour and Liberal have all been quiet on this example because they know it is ridulous.

Let me be the first:  I’ve wrongly called Lynette Farhnam ‘Lynette Bone’ in the caption below one of the photos.  Sorry Lynette, I hope you will forgive me.  I think I misheard something you were saying at the time of your addressing the Aldermen.

Garry, You’re not alone in complaining about the facilities in the LCC chamber.
The aldermen may speak normally, conversationally, and that’s as it should be. However, when residents are invited to attend to hear what they’re saying it’s frequently impossible within the chamber, let alone parked outside in the antechamber. High time the LCC spent some ratepayers’ money on lapel microphones and a good P.A. system; the present facilities are hopeless.
Let’s also hope that someone from the LCC is reading this
