I agree, re Schofield’s views too !! Though its perhaps a long bow to try to drag the Fox issue into the built heritage protection debate !! and somewhat unnecessary. I too in my own small way am doing my part for the protection of the State’s built heritage with the total restoration of my two properties, one built in the 1840s and the other, Horsecroft at Pawleena, which was a large rural estate and dates back to 1824, being originally owned by a Captain Sir William Henry Glover. Luckily for us the property while in neglected condition was basically structurally sound and largely still had all the heritage features intact including all the cedar and huon pine joinery, stone over mantles and wide floor boards etc. The cost hugely expensive, the work never ending but one day it will be returned to its former glory. More people need to do this sort of work rather than give their properties the modernisation treatment in my opinion. This comment appears on this article, HERE.
