Don’t forget Jodi Campbell! The member for Bass sits behind the PM in the House, and we see her nodding head on a nightly basis.

Yes, it’s pathetic isn’t it? Always gives me a laugh when I’m watching the news. Good one Karl.

1; You have to feel sympathy for Jodi and that seating position.
Still, it probably works for her!

It worked for Sylvia Smith. Despite losing the seat of Bass she wound up as president of LegCo.
To get elected in this state the name and the face must become linked and instantly recognisable. Hence the popularity among party leaders for candidates whose name is known from another source - sport, TV host, etc.
Mary Willey, many years ago, failed in her election bids until, she thought, after so many years her car stickers meant that the name became known. That’s why political dynasties last - and sometimes / frequently candidates with the same surname as a popular member get elected: Michael Barnard did very well, in being mistaken for Lance.
