The Tasmanian dairy farmers should band together and lobby the Tasmanian and Federal Governments to help them form a supply partnership with Betta Milk in order to create more competition and a stronger local company.

I also believe National Foods is also screwing Australian fruit juice suppliers through its Berri brand, so there’s another label I will be leaving off my shopping list along with Pura products.

The National Foods ‘thing’ could be bigger than we think.

The new milk is Soy, Rice, Almond, Oat, Barley, Euc Nitens ... anything other than cow.

The far Nth West of Tassie, too far to be really affecting anyone other than the local dairy farmers and associated industries;  even McCain vegetables is pulling out of Smithton.

So what industry could go there, with low ground water, high rain fall advantage, flat land and Japanese interests?  Call the man a cab, that’s right TREES, plantation trees for the Japanese market.  Who is dumping the far Nth West dairy farmers?, that’s right, Kirin a Japanese conglomerate with interests in pulp and paper?, perhaps?
