
CLAIMS about medical decisions made by Scottsdale GP Paul McGinity encompass eight dead patients, ante-natal care, cancer diagnosis and the prescription of narcotics. For the first time yesterday, Dr McGinity heard the 21 claims that have resulted in an investigation into his medical competence by the Medical Council of Tasmania. The information came from an unexpected source, on the last sitting day of the parliamentary year, when Health Minister Lara Giddings tabled a report from the council outlining the claims. All the claims were made by doctors - none are from patients. Dr McGinity said it was unfair of the minister to table sensitive health information about his patients.Ms Giddings said she did not receive Dr McGinity’s permission to make the claims against him public.
