Good on TT for shunning the ‘royalty cult’ that places primitive blood lines above modern legislation such as equal rights, equal opportunity and anti-discrimination. The fact the Danish ‘Royals’ are regularly ferried around on RAAF aircraft at taxpayers expense is yet another outrage in world overflowing with outrages behavior.

Why doesn’t the Mercury editor do a deal with them? One Happy Family snap on holiday location, in return for leaving them be? Given the revelations in London, surely it would be a good plan? (Further thought: if a local lad married a European princess, would the media be as obsessed with him? I think not).

Why these second rate royals are given the time of day I dont know .

They were of such importance they forgot to ask them to the latest royal wedding .

I mean apart from some contrived accent what has she got to offer Us ??  she is good at shopping and that is about it .

There is something so disgusting about Royals and there supposedly higher status in community, They breathe the same air as the rest of us, it honestly makes me sarcastically laugh to see the ridiculous reception they get.

Shes sending her kids to a public school, rates pretty highly with me on that score!!! Plenty of our politicians dont believe in having their kids through our public system.

I wonder if we could swap the Danish Royals for those dreadful English royals? That would be a fun referendum! Might even split the Monarchists, blood in the streets!

I agree - wasn’t Abel Tasman Danish ?  Or at least he liked danishes?  Tassie should become a Danish outpost.  Anyhow, the story of Mary has resonance for us all, there she was, just a real estate agents assistant, and look at her now.  There is hope for the humblest of us.  Secede from Australia, look for help from Denmark.  The Tampa was Danish too ay?  Lots of connections.  Why settle for a republic, we can choose our own Queen.

I wonder what the coverage is like in Denmark?. I suppose papparatzi are the same the world over. I hope the family gets a holiday and I will not be reading the mercury whilst they are here.

For those who wonder how much coverage HRH Princess Mary of Taroona is getting in Denmark, I couldn’t find any .... but I did find this in the Copenhagen Post. Surely an option for Mt Wellington in lieu of a cable car!

I can see why TT would not want to publish any stories etc on the Princess as:

1. It would be difficult for commentators to link the Danish Royal Family to forestry practices

2. It would be difficult for commentators to link the Danish Royal Family to Labor/Liberal ‘corruption’ etc

3. There have not been any photo pops with the Greens, as yet.

4. It is a positive story

A very nice snap of Mary and two students from the Fahan School at Sandy Bay appears in The Mercury this morning. Also the Merc has a photo gallery of 248 Mary related pictures. That’s a little tedious to look up if you still have dial up. We’re a bit behind the rest of Tasmania down here in the far south.

Like #6 and #10 I adore Mary, but I must admit I have a conflict of interest. Mary is related to one of my distant relatives by marriage. I’ve never met Mary and suspect I’m not likely to. I’m sure she’ll never travel this far south. But she is Tasmania’s greatest export since Errol Flynn.
