Unfortunately, constructive debate in Tasmania is hard to find and, as Brenda and others have pointed out, this is seriously exacerbated owing to the total lack of transparency under which forestry management is conducted, FT being the major forest owner in the state.  A lot of division in the Tasmanian community could be ameliorated if these issues were not clouded by the mistrust that lack of transparency generates.  Those like David who have an deeply emotional commitment to the logging industry should have their opinions respectfully heard and, for their part, they should concede that the veil of secrecy that pervades forest management needs to be lifted.
