Tim Trehearn at Northern Outlook, plus the fine people of the outdoor community in Cairns, have organised the very first “Lik Lik Kanu: The Adventures of a Novice Kayak Sailor” slideshow at CAFNEC meeting room, 6-8pm, Monday 18th August, $10 (free if you have a valid Norwegian passport). If you’re in Cairns or know people up here, let them know or come along. I just received my big laptop in the post today and have been looking through the photos for the first time. They’ll come up nicely on the big screen, I reckon.
The following list is the plan for the rest of the east coast presentations. If you can help with booking a venue or promotion (email lists etc.), please email me at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). If I roll too slowly over a cattle grid, have my wheel buckle, and am thrown beneath a stampede of cows… shows cancelled.
Brisbane 17-20th September
Sydney 6-12th October
Canberra 17-22nd October
Melbourne 1-10th November
Hobart (depends if I catch the ferry or wait for a brisk northerly?)
And, and a quick final thankyou to Matt and Yosh Chang, and the PNG Tourism Promotion Authority, for a wonderful stay in Port Moresby last week.
And, and, and a massive thankyou and hello to the champions at Campbell Street Primary in Hobart who have raised $360 for the Alotau General Hospital. Magnificent work Ms. Clymo’s class! I’ll be down to personally siphon it off into a Beruda bank account in December, if you can hold it until then.

Best Wishes

STEPPING off the plane at Cairns Airport I had that, ‘ooh I love coming home’ feeling right up and down my spine. Being off the water leaves me feeling delightfully aimless. Yesterday I sat eating breakfast for 2 hours while I read the newspaper! In a week I should have my new bicycle and trailer ready to cycle south. The kayak is being generously shipped (thanks John Barry, EMF and Consort Shipping), perhaps as far as Brisbane, at no cost. I’ll begin the pedalling with an improvised box attached to the trailer until we are reunited. There’s a good chance of calamity before that happens, but being a novice bike trailer-tower, I’m prepared to risk it! Reports and photos to come on the website every week beginning soon.
