Yes we are in an amazingly good position to move forward with the project.

The modelling has been done and lo and behold it is very good.

We have been able to get the science right. Lots of dilution with cheap water and a big pipe to put the piped salty water into the big salty water area.

Our shares have boomed since we announced this 8,000 job strong project to save Tasmania. They continue in the same direction, but the ASX has still not responded to our orders to turn the chart up the right way.

We have done all the work so far with no help from anyone and even Mr Garrett loves the pulp mill.

Support from the community is 90% at least and more in the forests industries, unions, governments and other smart people.

Our science is good….hang on I’ve done that bit….The protestors are dirty vermin and soon we will have the government set up a task force to get rid of them as there are too many of them anyway.

So I predict that we will be ready to start as soon as we have the finance in place and that is very soon as we are in talks with venture partners, strong talks that are very fruitful and investor confidence is strong and we have the science up to where we need it and even the environment will say that is very good.

If we don’t get it ready too soon, we will take the project to China, so you better accept the science and put your name down for a job at the pulp.
I will be in George Town soon looking for 8,000 workers to make the pulp mill at Bell Bay in the heart of the industrial area more than 100kms from houses and the mill won’t smell cause we have the science in place and we won’t actually use water, we will borrow it from the lakes and put it back into the ocean.

Ok, buy up big while MIS is looking good like our trees.

What project was that again?

So a company who cannot even stick to simple label directions on chemicals that they use on their plantations. And who spray chemicals in places where they are not meant to be used is going to run a worlds best technology pulp mill.
In their dreams!
This company have just tried to get people to give them $15 million for working capital.
Doesn’t sound like a company that have the capital, borrowing capacity or wherewithall to run a very complex pulp mill

The Gunners are re-writing the definition of optimism. Global commodity meltdown, climate-change meltdown and the company share price exploring whats below the floorboards. Go Gay and Gray, the shows not over yet is it dudes?

Gunns has performed brilliantly during this entire 4 years.

First the genius of the plan for the mill coupled with their almost total control over the outputs of Lennon and the ALP government.

Then the masterstroke of showing those Greenies who was in charge with a winning SLAPP suit.

Next their brilliant ‘withdrawal’ from the unfair and excessively slow RPDC process teaching the crawlers another lesson.

Another stroke of genius with the selection of Sweco Pic to approve the project (it was actually Poyry’s idea but JG rammed it through)

Then the deferral of the build to keep governments and everyone else on tenterhooks as support for the project built like a towering sea.

It’s a pleasure to see a true international company operate, particularly when it is with such finesse.

Huzzah for Gunns!

So, much as occured after the unclear Garret announcement of Jan 5th the company is back sending off silly substance-free, preemptive missives to the ASX.
I am beginning to think Gunns must have published a style guide for just such occasions, considering how often they pull this stunt and the dangers inherent for those who knowingly mislead the market.
Now all we need do is sit back and watch the Examiner do the corporate PR hard yards without ever putting a serious question to Gay. Southern Cross has alright done so, although I note an audio failure let “the old ENT team” down.

Having read the report, all Gunns has done is to have the goal posts moved. They have got the CSIRO and an ‘Independent ’ consultant to contradict the original modelling report and substitue a new one that says Bass Strait is not like the base on which it was modelled, and now they feel they will conform with the new report without having to make any changes to their outflow.

If they are wrong, of course, they may be fined, but they will have their mill and it cannot be closed down. They can expect at least a small slap on the wrist, but we may have to suffer the consequences.

Class action anyone?

Dear Sir,
I suggest that this blind determination to build a pulp mill in the Tamar Valley will eventually cost John Gay both the business and his job. The share price has been trashed from $4 to a low point of 65c, his corporate supporters have lost 30% of the funds used to recapitalise the business within four months and now his credibility is compromised by yesterdays release to the Australian Stock Exchange.
The premptive release of the Herzfeld Report, after nine months of struggle over a Freedom of Information request instigated by Senator Christine Milne, was always going to be a Public Relations disaster. To compound their release with a misleading announcement of an implied approval under the heading “Pulp mill technology will meet approval requirements” to the Stock Exchange, thereby causing Minister Garrett to refute the matter over the airwaves should ensure his prompt departure.

What timing! After having had the Herzfeld report suppressed even under the FOI laws, it suddenly emerges at the same time as the new Gunns report to the ASX. What they have clearly tried to do is to discredit the report so that their emissions now conform with what they hope will be a new fast-track(?)report. It is exactly the same tactics as they used with RPDC. They know they ‘critically deficient and cannot get their modelling to meet the criteria without extensive cost and construction of new processing plant, so therefore they have tried to shoot the messenger. Following that, they have produced their own spin and published that as though it is fact on the ASX - an almost exact copy of what they did with the Sweco-Pik report - put a greenwash over the whole thing and a highly slanted and optimistic report specially created for their consumers. Only this time, people are more aware and at leat our Minister for the Environment has come out and highlighted this practice for a change.

This time they have done themselves no favours, and the market is seeing it for what it is worth. Their share price dived again today and is down below the critical one dollar mark. The problem for them now is that the market is starting to see them for what they are - unreliable and not to be trusted. Funding now may be an impossibility, especially with the present world-wide financial situation. Coupled with the rising opposition to logging the ancient forests and a greater world-wide awareness of the problems, their timber contracts may also be looking a little shaky, and with the company value dropping to a new low, who in the international market would be prepared to take the risk?

Given that Gunns is already in debt and the world chip and pulp market is also in sharp decline, and their MIS ventures are not anywhere near as sound as they would have us believe, they could be heading for bankruptcy. They sold their plantation crop in SA a short time ago for $170 Million to tide them over for a short time, with a buy-back clause for the timber once it had matured. As the American company that bought it is not a charitable operation, they will be adding interest and a profit margin to this buy-back price and all this has done for Gunns is to temporarily hedge some of their debt. Will they ever be in a position to repay this?

Methinks the wall looms.
