Why is it, Tasmanians repeatedly hear the cry - “fox scat, fox scat” at times that suit?

According to FEP own deductions these fox scats are coming from the collective anuses of several resident Tasmanian foxes - both males and females (at least 8 different individuals) - yet so far they only leave their faecal calling cards.

There has been NO findings produced by DPIPWE or IA-CRC or FEP that definitively links any of these DNA-fox positive scats to any of the Tasmanian sites at which they were recovered. This has been pointed out and clear questions asked about these matters on several occasions.

Since 2005 fox faeces have been recovered across Tasmania (approx 40) but still no foxes caught on camera; no fox carcasses recovered from 1080 poisoned baits; no foxes shot or live trapped.

I think many Tasmanians, including myself and especially those living rurally with a little more grip on what really happens in our bush, agree with #3 David Obendorf.

There has been absolutely no indisputable evidence given to the public of any foxes existing in Tasmania whatsoever.

You would think with all the mobile phone cameras wandering over just about every square inch of Tassie that someone would have snapped a photo of one if so many scats have alleged to been found. It’s also very hard to believe anything about scats when the Tasmanian Government has admitted importing them from the mainland “to train sniffer dogs.” Why couldn’t they use the ones they ‘found here’?

However, allegedly, one fox (apparently pregnant) stole its way to Tasmania’s north-west in 2005. Now they are said, by Government representatives, to be in every corner of Tasmania.

Foxes are by nature a communal animal. The north-west is abundant with a fox’s entire food supply needs. There is just no way that a fox, or any other animal for that matter, would ever dream to move out of an area which continued to abundantly provide all their food requirements, let alone travel from one end of Tasmania to the other to in order to find more.

The most concerning thing for me though is that, coincidentally about the same time as foxes started ‘appearing’ along with the formation of the Tasmanian Fox Task Force, Forestry Tasmania were publicly stating that they “no longer baited with 1080.”

Guess who lays 1080 baits now, in order to ‘eradicate the foxes’? And I wonder where they are all being laid? State Forests, or maybe timber plantations?

Forestry Tasmania may not technically be laying 1080 baits anymore but there sure is a concerted Tasmanian Government effort to make sure that the Tasmanian Fox Task Force keeps operating, baits and all, even though not one shred of tangible indisputable evidence has been presented to the public that a single fox exists anywhere from one corner of Tasmania to another.
