Ah yes, our forests are carted away by an endless procession of heavily laden trucks to the privately owned forest abattoirs whose owners make a fortune from the state’s assets while the state makes nothing.
So according to Bob Gordon the state will make a few million from selling 1.5 million tonnes of native forest per year to Gunns.
What sort of a dodgy deal, poor return joke is that???
Make a business decision and stop cutting down our forests, cut our losses and look at new ways to use our forests eg carbon sinks.
The Hollybank cable walk won’t save forestry and I can’t believe they have cut into the trees with massive clamps for this latest futile attempt to keep FT in the black.
Dismal swamp is aptly named….$20 for a dodgy slippery dip ride to a ho hum arty farty boardwalk. The best view there is the car park with it’s massive trees….how long before they die is the next question.
If people wanted to ride a cable or go for a slippery dip ride they would go to Queensland.
People come to Tasmania to see the forests….so they better hurry up if they want to get one last glimpse……

And of course it is the Greens & Wildos fault for poor economic returns, the Jews only have themselves to blame for World War 2 and dont get me started on coloured people…...

That’s right, Tony, and I’ve been known to repeatedly hit a cop in the truncheon with the backs of my knees.
Could somebody tell these incompetents that if handing our resources to Gunns is the only way they can operate, we’d actually be better off economically by closing down all forestry operations. A more sensible alternative would be for Forestry Tas to take over all forestry and forest-related enterprises in the state from private operators, thus increasing both the return to taxpayers and the likelihood of appropriate management of the resource.

Forestry what an abysmal dismal failure.
The proof in the pudding eh. Certainly makes the value of protecting Tassies forests as carbon sinks look better, doesn’t it?
Taking out the tourism ventures, just wonder how much Forestry did make from one of the biggest resources in the state? Talk about whittling away their own industry and profits.
Don’t Forestry and their chainsaw massacre gang constantly allude to the idea that Tasmania cannot survive without their forest industry? Obviously a-pigs-might-fly-tassies-been-screwed-tale.
A Government Business Enterprise. What’s it in the ‘business’ of? The business of spin and con, rather than having any idea how to properly look at how to project and run a businesses finances? Suppose when it’s not their money, when they have the publics money to play with, what risk is it to them? May we suggest the risk of losing credibility – and they are going down in their own incredibly inept flames.
But Lennon thinks it’s all ok, because he’s so full of unworldly experience. The only business know how he’s got, is to jump, how high? to the tune of guns.
Bob Gordon blames everything but himself, because he wanted to be a plotitican too.
“Both men criticised opponents of the forestry industry and the media for how it reported the issues.”
“It’s very hard to combat that type of (misinformation), yet people keep saying these types of things,” Mr Gordon said.”
Oh poor, poor forestry, literally! Isn’t there a saying “the truth hurts”. Mr Gordon, and Mr Lennon do pretty well showing the true colours of their set-up industry on their own. If they don’t like being reminded of their stupid so called mistakes, then stop shaving the state, stop creating a state of stumps and get out of the race.
But surprise, surprise, of course they couldn’t leave out a dig to the ones who actually care about Tassie. Though not really sure which media they are alluding to, surly not the mates toilet paper or the stick your head in the sand paper, weren’t they stitched up? But of course spoilt bully boys always blame someone else don’t they?
If, between, just to name a few, Forestry, the CFMEU forestry division, the TCA, Eric Abetz, DPAC, their well places mates, their well stroked middle men their access to public money, haven’t managed to pull the wool over every ones eyes, then no doubt, the real truth can’t be killed, it continues to survive.
“People are keen to jump on the industry,” Mr Lennon said. “But when the industry is proven right, it’s not sexy news.”
Well sure can see Mr Lennon was keen to jump head first into the industry and drag the rest of us down with him. Though can’t see how jumping on somersaulting back peddling donkeys, is sexy. But trying to keep the bastards honest, fighting for peoples rights, trying to ensure the environment is kept safe for now and in the future, so people can live a healthy life, is right.
Make a list of when your lot has been proven right Mr Lennon, then make a list of when it’s been wrong. Now scratch out the industries lies and deceit, and gee, what a surprise!
This lot couldn’t be trusted to project the correct size of their shadows on a wall let alone be trusted with the publics money.
Tassie and its people have been conned for years. A well overdue Royal Commission would no doubt also help to truthfully see, where have the forests and the money gone?
Forestry Tasmania, you are a joke, a dismal failure of a joke. Sack the con artists they have failed the Tasmanian people.

‘Dismal’ it is, and intersting times ahead!
Lennon suggested as long as he is premier, FT would not be sold…
The pine sawlog resource is being mined out and the switch to hardwood from the pulp plantations will not sustain the job numbers.
Sad times ahead in the North East!
The question is, for how much longer does this downhill slide is alowed to continue?
In the meantime the conversion of mixed aged, mixed species forests to even ageclass stands of trees continues.
The lot is in trouble!
When will FT and the Forest Industry in Tasmania be turned into “optimised carbon forestry operations”?
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, Deputy Julia Gillard, Climate change Minister Penny Wong will get the big global picture. The new Forestry Minister Tony Burke and Finance Minister Wayne Swan may also be interested to as for the books of FT and look at the long term deals that have been done on the past.
FT will just get into spin, then we see them run for cover.
It will be interesting how much longer this forest war down here continues…
We live in interesting times, that’s for sure!

The ABC TV news item that discussed this unprofitability made not a single mention of the industry being subsidized to the hilt with taxpayers money. I can understand such censorship as it operates in the Gunn’s controlled daily papers in Tassie but does anyone know why ABC TV is so gutless in this state?
Who’s running the show in Hobart?

Being in a high volume/low margin commodity business when we’re at the end of a long supply chain with relatively high transport costs, is just not an attractive business to be in. Tasmania doesn’t offer any specific benefits to justify such a business. Forestry Tasmania isn’t a real business anyway, it’s mainly a conduit for tax monies to be expended for the benefit of Gunns.
And Gunns wouldn’t make a crumpet without the huge subsidies and cost relief provided by easily led politicians and bureaucrats. They get over $150 million in subsidies and cost relief and only post a profit of $80 million, thus they’re running at a loss of around $70 million plus per year. The only thing keeping them afloat is the taxpayer. Small wonder we think of them as great successes!
Still, at least that money isn’t being wasted on hospitals, education and other forms of social welfare.

Rudd flaged at least $30 a ton for carbon sinks wth no cost for roads or bridges this would mean woodchip logging of native forests is finished unless gunns can pay $30 royalty per ton and pay for all forestry costs .Forestry should show a record profit next year.Who is shiting themselves now?.

Examiner editorial today spoke of Hydro problems, and Transend got a mention. But NOT ONE WORD about F.T.
Gosh! Amazing!
