I think the Lab/Lib conservatives and the destroyers of our environment are very, very peeved that Senator Brown and more importantly, the Tasmanian Forests, have so many loyal and dedicated supporters around the country.

You know these so called ‘Liberals’ such as Abetz
seem to be devolving back to creatures with scales that slide around on their bellies. Whats his problem? Rather than up-skilling some ‘wood chip dependent’ unskilled laborers,  Abetz has fixated on down-skilling the whole nations economy to include the destruction of trees that just happen to contain more carbon than any other trees on earth, and the systematic poisoning of the rest of us.
I don’t think people like Abetz would be welcome anywhere on earth, He is that bad.

This accusation is oh, so predictable

Abetz is a good reason why Green voters find it difficult to preference the Liberals in this State.  Give him the axe I say.

I would have thought Eric would be more concerned answering questions about his role in MIS legislation and lobbyists.

Lets reverse the circumstances here. If Eric Abetz had, by his own involvement, recently lost a court battle to continue the logging of Wielangta or say, the Upper Florentine, and he needed the funds to pay for the legal fees, how many people would rally to his call and provide the same degree of financial support that has been afforded to Bob Brown?

Leaving aside those with vested interests such as Gunns or the Green/Brown hating Exclusive Brethren,or even the odd Hillsong convert, I would suggest very few. Even those average mums and dads who actually have respect for Abetz as an individual due to holding similar values, are unlikely to give him money as it goes against their most prized value system- the attainment of greater profits for personal use.

Eric Abetz’s attempt to drag Bob Brown down to his base level and values based upon financial maximisation has probably done more damage to Abetz in the eyes of the public than he realises. The support for Bob Brown is, in my view, an uplifting experience, as it shows that there are many who believe in something greater that ultimately transcends the almighty dollar.

How can a senator that demands all-out extraction from the forests launch such an attack? A man for profit and special interest points the finger. His target: a man who has shown unfailing courage fighting for our children’s inheritance.

This attack is full of irony. Early-on, a court finds in favour of forest protection. An industry spokesman demands to ‘fix’ this. Another court finds the first finding irrelevant and nullifies without contradicting it. The man who called for protection finds himself owing a quarter of a million dollars. Then, people flock to his support, but the senator for logging isn’t content with the foiled attack on his quarry’s pocket. He assails the man’s character.

- What are the attacker’s credentials for verbal assault on such a man of ethics? How did the man of supposedly questionable character garner such overwhelming support? How distorted has media coverage become when glaring questions such as these are left hanging?

Irony is lost on the mainstream media, but the tone of the coverage has come to be expected in this cut-off community. Here, the power of one group engulfs control of an island’s resources and life-support systems. Power is upheld by government, opposition, unions, public service and judicial system. Finally, it holds sway in the press. We witness a baseless attack lacking credential yet given Tasmanian-style moral imperative.

Why does anyone bother listening to EricA’s nasal whinings? Of course he’s going to spout the usual rubbish. Pointy-heads like him can’t stand a person of integrity like Bob Brown because he brings their own stark deficiencies into clear relief.

Some very good points here. Infact the local media might well ask some questions about Senator Eric Abetz, though they should tread carefully lest the Examiner be accused of bias by the squeaky clean Senator. Perhaps we should be asking is Senator Abetz passed his used by date.
Abetz was the Howards government poster boy for MIS. Perhaps Mister Abetz could now explain how many millions of taxpayers’ dollars have been lost through these failed Managed Investment Schemes. Of course we have recently seen the collapse of Timbercorp and now Great Southern Plantations and it has been estimated that the subsidy to Managed Investment Schemes over the last tens years is over $4 billion.
I remember Senator Abetz utilising much of the ABC’s air time pontificating about the benefits of MIS to the Australian community. If its good enough for him to now come out and attack the ABC on behalf of the Forest industry, then its also good enough for him to front up and answer some hard questions on the very public and obviously catastrophic failings of a scheme that he so enthusiastiaclly championed.

Abetz will go to jail after the next SENATE election if he is sitting illegally in the SENATE, he has been warned, AND HE THERFORE DOES SO KNOWINGLY.He knows that I will contest his right to represent us after the next election by taking an action through the HIGH COURT acting as the COURT OF DISPUTED RETURNS.
