Can somebody actually inform us what IS the actual cost of the Pulp Mill.

In reports over the last year or so it has been gradually climbing from $1.2 billion, to the frequently quoted $1.7 Billion and now $2 Billion.

At this rate, by the time it is built it will be at least $4 billion!

Remember, the higher the intial cost, the higher the interest paid and the less viable Gunns becomes. This also means that we will be paying Gunns a HUGE subsidy if the pulp price falls below about US$500 per tonne—that is, of course, if it ever reaches that price in the first place!

1: Interesting question, the figures are as rubbery as the EIS. Few hundred million either way, who cares? Cheap at any price, this mill will save Tasmania. Might even be able to get a bed in a hospital when the cash starts rolling in!
