Yes Michael, I saw compassion in action “Anglican style” some years ago with the closure of a much loved country church. The lead up to the closure was unbelievable with the “men of God” behaving like the Mafia. The Bishop who presided over the final closure was called Stone, a name I will never forget because his whole demeanour reflected his name (and I think his heart). I’m not surprised at all at the latest insult to the loyal, older parishioners - maybe not contributing enough financially?  Sorry but my experience with the Anglican connection have made me very, very cynical. The fact of the matter is (in my opinion) you are talking about a business - and management are simply restructuring it.  So very sad for the people whose faith and trust has been shattered by what is meant to be a caring organisation.
