This is all about our nearest neighbour, our former colony, which most Australians think of as being grossly dysfunctional bordering on disintegration. How little they know.

My soujourns in PNG over the years have given me an abiding respect for Melanesian culture, its lack of pretension, its extraordinary diversity, its generosity. Then there is the great PNG tropical forests, second only to the Amazon in its biological diversity.

PNG has many problems, mostly of our causing, but if the roof ever falls around us, the supermarkets no longer supplying our food, our cars abandoned where they finally ran out of fuel, PNG village life will just go on as it always has.

I have followed your adventure for some time now and have enjoyed your stories (especially Bukawa village where I stayed for three nights myself one time not so long ago). PNG has special memories for me and it was great to relive them through your adventure. I have sent your website to everyone I know.

I look forward to what must surely be a book in the future to encompass all of your adventures. Looking forward to your next one.
