Fullers Bookshop in conjunction with the Friends of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery is excited to be hosting one of Australia’s most respected and high profile art critics, Betty Churcher.
Betty will be in conversation with the Senior Curator of Art at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, Sue Stackhouse at Fullers Bookshop, 6pm, Thursday, April 14.
Betty is the former director of the National Gallery of Australia and of the Art Gallery of Western Australia. She is the author of several acclaimed books and has also been an art critic for the Australian.
She has written and presented several television series on art including Take Five and Hidden Treasures. She holds an Order of Australia.
She has been instrumental in the artistic education of Australians and it is a tragedy that she is now losing her sight.
Betty Churcher’s recently published Notebooks (Miegunyah, 2011) is an exquisitely produced and gorgeously illustrated book that recreates a personal tour of her most beloved works, including masterpieces by Rembrandt, Goya, Manet, Velázquez, Courbet, Vermeer and Cézanne.
• This is a ticketed event. Tickets are available at Fullers Bookshop ($10/$7 Friends of TMAG)
